Targeting by Hashtags
Some Instagram users tag their photos with hashtags that represent the type of media they’ve posted. For example, a photo of a cat might be tagged with #catlover or #persiancats. Using hashtags to target media on Instagram is a way to interact with specific types of content in your niche.
If you select Tags, you’ll need to scroll down the page and add tags. Make sure you’re adding popular tags in your niche. It’s up to you to test out different sets of tags to see what works the best for you. You can add up to 1000 tags.
Some Instagram users geotag their photos with a location. This is one way to target users who may live in a specific region.
If you select Locations, you’ll need to scroll down the page and add geo locations. This is a great option for local businesses. You can enter the name of your business and target customers. Or, enter the names of competitors. You can add up to 100 locations.
Targeting by Followers, Followings, Likers, and/or Commenters (Usernames)
Targeting by usernames is a way to interact with the followers and followings of the best usernames. It’s up to you to research the best usernames that make the most sense for your brand. Then, you can interact with their followers, or most active likers/commenters. You can add up to 100 usernames
Followers allows you to target the followers of usernames, or your own followers. Followings allows you to target the accounts that usernames follow, or the accounts that you follow (your feed). By selecting “All” you’ll target both.
Likers allows you to target the accounts who have liked a username’s media, or your own media. Commenters allows you to target the accounts who have commented on a username’s media, or your own media. By selecting “All” you’ll target both.
If you select Followers, Followings, Likers and/or Commenters, you’ll need to scroll down the page and add usernames. It’s important to add usernames with high engagement rates (likes/comments on media in relation to total followers) in your niche.
Troubleshooting: Most common problems
Using too many filters
Sometimes users go a little trigger happy with Filters. Be aware, if you’ve set too many Filters too strictly, this could cause your activity to go slower than normal. So, please make sure you didn’t set a high # in your minimum likes, and/or media age to newest.
You may need to adjust your Follow and/or Unfollow Settings to make sure that you’re targeting the right people. Scroll down on your Activity Page to adjust these settings.
